Never mind the Lamplighter....I have a bank in my back garden where the honeysuckle, and a particularly rampant vinca have grown together. I am ridding the bank of the vinca (gradually) and tying up the honeysuckle which smells divine when in flower.
The honeysuckle becomes more woody, and there is a red tinge to the stem. The leaves are a bit bigger and a bit rounder than the vinca. The vinca (ruddy stuff) feels much softer.
The plant in the original pictures looks quite woody to me, and I`m pretty certain it is honeysuckle.

        Welcome AC79. :)

Japanese Knotweed has an unusual zig-zag in the stems, you can probably see that better in BeeHappy's post above.

I had a vinca once. The doctor gave me a cream for it. It spread everywhere. I was glad to get rid of it.

Honeysuckle, in my opinion, but I can see a resemblance to Vinca. Vinca tends to grow in a more of a mat formation.

We have both in the garden and they are both rampant but no real problem.
