Thank you Jenny. Used to have 5 altogether, they were all related.

 

That's my cat Bella. She made herself home on our kitchen sofa three years ago, after her original keeper bored of her and left her behind when she moved. It seems that even pedigree animals can be abandoned like that. She may be a Savannah but she's very sociable if not a lap cat and seeks human company in between naps

 

Bored, @amancalledgeorge? This is bored. Millie has perfected it

 

Unfortunately the original keeper moved on to a pedigree dog after six years and just left her behind to fend for herself...absolute scumbag @BenCotto thankfully she found us.

@amancalledgeorge I find such folk a disgrace and so pleased Bella found you. Sadly we have all too much of that here with the British returning to the UK leaving their cats and dogs behind in empty buildings It makes me very angry.

This is Chester.



Originally, he was our neighbour's daughter's cat and was always trying to get in our house (and apparently everyone else's too). He kept doing that thing that cats do with the big eyes and, sucker that I am, I caved. He started to spend more and more time at ours so I got him some biscuits so he didn't get hungry. Jump ahead a couple of years and I'm beginning to get a bit suspicious about the amount of time he was staying over so the next time I saw my neighbour I asked her if he was still going back there. Apparently not. He hadn't been back for weeks. It turns out that the daughter had moved out but not taken him with her and he decided to move in with us instead.

He hasn't been having a great time the past few months. After a number of tests and a scan, we discovered he had hyperthyroidism. He had a lot of trouble with the meds making him sick (or so we thought) so we went for the radio-iodine treatment for a complete cure. In the pre-treatment blood test, the vet discovered he had a high white blood cell count but said to retest in a few weeks in case the hyperthyroidism was causing it. Post radio-iodine treatment he was still vomiting and when we had the test to check his white blood cell count, it was still high. End of last week we had another blood test done and on Monday we were told he has leukaemia. We had a vet appointment yesterday afternoon to see what the options are and we've decided to go with chemotherapy. In his case, it's two tablets every other week which shouldn't be too stressful for him which is what we were worried about. Our vet says that on chemo he could live up to another year so fingers crossed the meds don't cause him any trouble. We've just picked up his tablets and we're going to start treatment tomorrow. It's been a rough few months.

 

So sorry for poor Chester @Februarysgirl hope he does well on the medication. You're wonderful not to give up on him.
