We had to do an "emergency" visit to see Toby last night. He has discovered the halfway landing en route for upstairs. He is NOT allowed that final stretch into the bedrooms - he has been told "off limits!!". On the half way landing, a handsome wooden duck stood until Toby expressed interest. It was placed out of reach up on the window sill. Well, it was until yesterday. Whilst Toby's Dad was distracted, the little devil decided to make contact with the duck and must have hopped up a bit to grab it but not securely it seems. As he landed back down to earth, the duck hit him on the head and then dropped on to a front paw - which made him squeal and as Dad went rushing up, Toby was looking right mournful and holding his paw up. He limped about afterwards for a while but had recovered by the evening and was back to being boisterous again.
Honestly, they are like kids aren't they - you can't take your eyes off 'em for 10 seconds.
He got bored a few days ago and pulled the jacket off the whirligig - then pulled an arm down and bent that and then tugged and chewed lots of bit of lines to breaking point. Whirlygig now unusable. Trouble is, the stem had been set in concrete and beautifully paved over, Now, it will have to be drilled out and the patio paving relaid. They are not replacing with a new Whirlygig until next Spring. Drying will have to take place in the pool room until then.
He's still a gorgeous 33 kg of cuddle mass when he's calmed down though,
                Jenny

:roflol: @ toby. There is nothing quite as pathetic as a huge German Shepherd in full 'woe is me' mode.

Today we went to see a man about a dog (or two ) and came home with these little munchkins. Meet Cooper and Honey and their spectacular ears

They're 14 month old staffy crosses - no idea what the cross is but they have a slender build and those huge ears. They are brother and sister and were taken by the RSPCA from someone with mental health issues who had started 'collecting' dogs and cats. They weren't abused, just not looked after particularly well, and the previous owner's landlord had insisted she get rid of all the dogs. So it's start from scratch with training as they've clearly never had any. They're very affectionate and loving though and have settled in right away.

They're cute Eve and love those ears! They look like they have Basenji in them but unlikely I would have thought. :)
