Mine was slow to get going as well. A repot worked wonders.
Next spring I will take a couple of cuttings and plant the main plant out as it is getting too large to overwinter easily now. Putting them in the ground in a shady moist spot absolutely transforms them. Not a good photo but you'll get the idea...............

Christmas cactus in full bloom. About 4 weeks ago I watered it for the first time in about 3 months so I think it is saying thanks.

It was a gift from an elderly relative who is no longer here. Lovely reminder of her.

What I can't understand about our property is no flowers keep they die off even when put in pots properly plus the same for brought flowers.... through this I can only put false plants in pots

I think you need to expand a bit on that statement.:biggrin:

Maybe you are not choosing the right kind of plants, or the wrong aspect etc.

I doubt it has anything to do with the property.

@pete I've had different plants in the home in 10yrs, done the pots how they should be plus never over watered them and they've looked ok for a certain time, then just died:scratch:

Regarding fresh flowers in vases, kept clean water in them regular but my main plants I do love in the home are roses and they will not take in the bay window in the bedroom or living room they die quickly...just can't understand it, so now I have arranged false flowers in vases :)

Where we lived previous my roses always bloomed well in vases as you can see on the pic and I used to love doing them :)

Hi @Gail_68 , regarding pot plants, I'm just wondering what types of plants, only lots these days are only intended as short term, ie. lots of flowering pot plants sold are intended to be thrown away after flowering.
As to cut roses, I never thought they lasted very long anyway, before the petals drop off indoors, lets face it they dont often last that long when still attached to the plant.

@pete I had two of these plants in the living room either side of the fire place as they like shade with a bit of light and they went great from the spring but come September the leafs kept dying off, I potted it correctly and used to rub the leafs with milk and I just couldn't understand what caused them to die as the growth and extension of leafs was great.

Then I had a bonsai plant and did what the instructions said and the leafs kept falling off and it was for in doors, my step son loved it so I gave it him but he left it outside in the sun and it flourished...marvellous

Regarding roses...that pic was only showing you what was left I used to fill it, till it did a full circle of roses and I used to add a dissolvable asprin in the water besides the liquid they add and when I saw dead petals or leaves dying off, I used to fetch the roses out re-trim the bottom and remove any deadness and they used to last a good week and half...it's like nothing wants to take in here :snorky:
