    It seems to want to flower just at the time when its too cold outside for it, I assume its a day length thing.

      Alocasia cuprea Red, not grown for it's flowers more for it's coppery leaves but it has flowered although not really worth looking at. cuprea 2.JPG

                My Bird of Paradise is still going strong! A couple of pictures from this morning. As I don't know how long the flower will last I'm taking pictures almost daily!

                        Do they usually flower at this time of the year? I haven't noticed any more flower stems on my plant so far. How long do the flowers generally last?I think my flower is small but as I've never seen them "live" before I don't really know. Perhaps next year I'll get more & bigger ones than this year - after all this is the very first flower it's produced!

                          Mine are outside and flower late June into July but I think given warm conditions they will flower at any time of the year, mine has the flower spikes there now but they are not moving as its too cold at the moment.
                          You normally get a couple of weeks or more from each flower spike.
