I have 2 pots of Clivias & they were out on the balcony till about 2 weeks ago. In spite of the frosts in December & January they have pulled through with no more than a a little leaf damage. They'd been kept dry & had had no water at all for 2 or 3 months. No doubt that helped a little in reducing frost damage.

As I use G Photos to back up my pictures today I saw that this time last year they were in full bloom, so, being curious, I had a look deep into their leaves & sure enough there were lots of buds! If I'd waited another week or so I would have seen them flowering!

Anyway for the record here are a few pics of the buds but when the flowers open I shall be posting more pics of them!

I think I need one to deal with all the pesky compost or fruit flies. They are particularly bothersome come the evening when I'm sitting here at my computer. I think it must be the monitor that attracts them. We've always had a few, mostly in the kitchen, but it seems since I started to buy peat-free compost last year they seem to be all over the place.

Crassula ovata, been flowering in the greenhouse since Christmas. It's too big to fit on the windowsill indoors, seems happy enough though.

Mine are rubbish since I had the new roof put on the conservatory, its too dark and the light they do get on the window shelf comes from the wrong direction.

I think this thread is running on to cover 2024. I couldn't find a 2024 one last week when I looked.

I'm going to call this a houseplant, but lives in the unheated porch.

                            New name Gonialoe variegata apparently.
Its going to flower well this year, I think this proves how day length is a big factor to plants knowing the time of year, as the porch is no warmer now than it was in December.

If it's in the house it's a houseplant. In its native habitat it isn't a houseplant (unless someone digs one up, plants it in a pot and brings it into the house).
