The Hyacinths have practically finished now. The flowers are drying out but these are the last photos I have of them!

Now I need a new flowering plant to put in their place!

In a few days I will put them outside on the balcony in a bigger pot where they will be able to grow during the spring & early summer to hopefully flower again next spring (2024).

That is nice and cheery Pete. Reminds me of Tecomaria blooms.

What killed it? As mine appears almost indestructible. It's been exiled to the cold greenhouse for the past 5 years as it had a mealie bug problem, also gotten too large for the windowsills. RHS class it as H2 (5 to 1°C) but most winters it will have been less than that some nights especially near the glass.
It would probably get bigger in a bigger pot, but currently manageable.
              Mealie bugs have gone though.

I was just noticing the cobwebs on one of my large cacti in the greenhouse :yikes: I'll have to take a brush to it I think.
I've often taken a photo of plants and seen cobwebs I didn't know were there.
I wish my C. ovatas would flower, I have two larg-ish ones and many smaller cuttings. Never seen a flower on any of them.

Mine are just budding up and have grown in the gravel on the greenhouse floor by dropped leaves.
I never water them, or the gravel, and I think they need to be pretty dry and possibly neglected to flower well.

I thought I neglected them enough, I hardly ever water them, but I'll have to give them lots more neglect I think.

I read once that you dry them out in summer and water sparingly now.
As I dont water mine at all I cant really say whether that works or not, but the cool temperatures and the free rootrun does seem to work for me.
I get the feeling that if people were to grow them as house plants the chance of flowers would be quite low.

That could be something to do with it, mine are in pots and may be the pots are too small.
They are in the new greenhouse this winter but in previous years I've kept them in a warm conservatory. I don't suppose it was cold enough.
