These 3 Pelargoniums I bought with the money my daughter gave me for my birthday 4 or 5 years ago. They are cuttings of cuttings ... Every year I root a few & I have lots of cuttings rooting outside in the mini-greenhouse on the balcony. I hope to pot them up during the Bank Holiday weekend (which one of the 3 in May this year I don't know yet!)

I have killed perhaps 10 Venus Flytraps in my life. Quite possibly the word has gone around and this rosette broken off the mother clump (still alive and infested with aphids) decided to grow it's own funeral flowers

I used to cut the flowers off as they sap the energy of the rosette.
Have you tried feeding with cheese, a nice piece of cheddar is preferred in small pieces.
You have to agitate the trap for a while to simulate a fly trying to escape, if you don't the trap will just open again in a few hours and not digest the cheese.

Thanks- I have no Cheddar in the house but will experiment with Gouda or Emmentahl. I hope it doesn't mind the continental feel.

The mother clump is fed with live aphids that cling desperately to the flower stem, most likely screaming their little heads off in terror. Amazingly, the plant is growing next to the usual aphid food (herbs and Ipomoea) but no other plant has any sign of aphids. :th scifD36:

That's a beautiful plant, @Michael Hewett We used to have a plant here but it died a few years ago. I got it for my wife (it was much reduced as it was the day after Mother's Day!) I had it growing in a pot on top of the big pot with a Dragon Tree in it so it could climb up the trunk but it didn't like being in the living room very much. I planted it outside on the balcony but don't remember now how it died.

We also had a huge one when we lived in Cuenca, Spain. You'd need a supercomputer to count the masses & masses of flowers it used to have!

My granddaughter helped me repot them just a month ago. I didn't expect it to have made such a difference so soon. I had hoped for flowers perhaps in the summer but I never imaged they might flower just a month after being repotted!

@NigelJ How old was your plant before it started flowering?

I was given a plant some years ago but though it has continued to grow it has never shown a single flower! I repotted it a month or so ago but it split up into 4 or 5 pieces! I repotted them all in 9cm pots using the Cactus & Succulent compost I got a few days before. All the little plants seem to be just fine & are making new growth.

How do you look after your plant? Somebody told me they flower well after being out in the sun all summer. Mine have never been outside so I was thinking of putting them on the balcony next week until October when I'd bring them in again.

I have had 3 Orchids for some years now & they flower every year. This year I only have 2 in flower but I very much doubt the third, a yellow, & probably the longest one I have ever had, practically died on me but I got some Orchid compost & repotted them all. The two whites have responded very well but the yellow is still struggling.

I don't know, I got it from a nursery 2019 and it was already in a 1 L pot and in flower so possibly 3 years old.
I put this and another one that flowers out onto decking at the back, this is shady.
I also have some others that go in the greenhouse over the summer, but in a shady spot with fleece over them.
They originate from Central and South America, living epiphytically in trees in the rain forest, so good light, but not full sun and high humidity.
