Aeschynanthus marmoratus is just starting to bloom.....................

I'm just getting the hang of this one now - it needs regular watering when in growth, but when the blooms start to emerge it prefers to be drier. This year it is loaded with buds (I gave up counting at eighty).

            Lovely plants, everyone :dbgrtmb:

The only houseplants we have are orchids (the bathroom has about a dozen with half of them in bloom now) and the kitchen windowsill used to have a lot but they got in the way. Most of the kitchen ones have been given away or moved to the greenhouse - so I suppose Mrs Shiney will move them back when it gets colder.

The kitchen ones we're mainly non-flowering plants apart from all the Hoyas. Kristen had one of those from us and it was wrapped around a frame that had approx a 9" diameter. When he unwrapped it I think it was about 6ft long . They're blooming in the greenhouse now.

A lot of the orchids are coming into bloom now, but these two have been in bloom all year.................

Ceropegia woodii has bloomed since May, but has not really done well as the numbers are reduced. In the wrong spot maybe, so I'll move it over the winter and see what next year brings.

Don't laugh - this is last Christmas's Poinsettia "Princettia". Couldn't bring myself to chuck it out! House plants 23 September 2012 001.JPG House plants 23 September 2012 002.JPG And Oxalis triangularis "Cupido". Both plants live in the Dining/Lounge,near to windows but almost no sunlight. I'm a bit on the heavy side with watering so they have to be able to cope with my "kindness".

                  Well done Jenny ,
poinsettia it`s really hard to keep alive , apparently poisonous to cat and dog , but well done with it .
Oxalis are usually grown outdoor , but to admit that they make a nice indoor plant , just curiosity do they die down in winter?

In late Autumn it will go sparse and "flower out". I then take out the tuber and gently remove the little new pink nodes down the sides of the tuber. These are the new generation. I pot them up and they will emerge in about 6 weeks time, all ready to go again. If you would like some, PM me,
                  Jenny

Do you ever allow the Oxalis to be dormant Jenny?

My Hoya is just starting another flush of flowers.....................
                    DSC_3417.JPG

One of the easiest of houseplants. Hoya do however have one quirk - they repeatedly flower form the same points on the plant. So never cut of these "spent" flower nodes.

                      Nope,
I throw away the old tuber and just plant up the newies. About 3 in a 4 inch pot makes a generous display.

It's one of the mini Phals. The colour has changed since it was potted up in Sphag moss to this (nicer) greeny yellow.

LongK - nice thread - thank you.

I had no idea that bat plant was so big - makes me want one. I am glad both your Kohleria and Smithiantha have flowered - mine haven't, except for one very small sad bloom on the Kohleria. My Smithiantha has loads of wonderful healthy foliage - but no flowers.

I am never quite sure where the line is between house plants and exotic/tropical plants. I have currently brought some plants in from outside to watch them flower eg Gloriosa and Tibouchina. I have another Gloriosa that has just reached about 4 foot and which I hope will flower soon. I will show these two again for anyone who hasn't seen them in the Tropical section.
