Our pot of three Hyacinths are even more stunted than yours GA, flowering just above soil level.:frown:
The Anthurium is beautiful, I still prefer red to all the newer cultivars.

Brightening up the front porch in the cold dark days of winter, my cyclamen and hyacinths both doing well. It's a joy to be greeted by some colour and that lovely hyacinth fragrance the moment you step through the front door. :)

How long do your flowers last for? My B.n variegata has just flowered and they where all spent within a week. I thought the flowers on bromeliads last for ages, I was extremely disappointed!

I reckon that they will last a week or so too. But there are new spikes developing all over the pot.

I thought that it was the flower bracts that lasted on Bromeliads?

Me too. Better in the flesh too!

Just coming into bloom is one of my Kalanchoe x houghtonii..........................
        DSC_1891.jpg

It grows very quickly from cuttings and like Kalanchoe delagoensis it forms plantlets on the leaf tips too. So as I had a few to spare I planted some outdoors last year and grew them as an annual. They thrived, looked different, but no flowers.

This Pahiopedilum noid has started blooming too..................

Billbergias are very short lived Bromeliads, Vreisia, Achmea and Guzmanias last a lot longer and neither the bracts or flower last long on Billbergia.
I have waited three years for these offsets to flower on my Billbergia Pyramidalis Variegata and will be over by next week. The plant is very attractive without flowers which is why I still keep it.

I have twenty odd Bilbergia Nutans Var from divisions last summer, none are in bud so may be next year.
The dwarf variegated Bougainvillea is flowering even better now although the pics it looks purple but it is bright pink.

That is beautiful. I love Bromeliads and would love to grow some more but tend to find mist rooms in my house a little too dry for them and my bathroom just a little too shady.

Busy lizzie - I wanted to shorten the few long stems by a 3rd or half to make the plant bushier, but the flower buds keep on coming, so the question is: do it or not? There are some new shoots coming from lower down, maybe I should wait for them to bear flowers before I shorten the leggy long ones?

My Laeliocattleya 'Rojo' flowers have just opened. I bought this in flower last year as it was the first red Cattleya type Orchid I had seen. Cattleyas do extremely well in my bathroom. I pay them hardly any attention but they romo away and flower every year without fail. The only drawback is for the remaining 10 months when they are not in flower they look a little untidy!

I also bought this hybrid last year. It was unnamed and rescued from the bargain shelf for the grand total of £3.50!

It was a long wait for it to flower but worth every minute. (This one flowered earlier in the year but I forgot to post). The flowers have a citrusy rose type fragrance that completely filled the bathroom.
