Well done Pete ... keep us posted on how they go. The Tecoma grows very fast, many meters a season. Thee Thevetia is slower going.

I shall wait until the new year before sowing, not keen on filling up the window sills too much, got the plumerias on the sunniest one.

Thought whilst I was having dinner, my Thevetia 'seeds' look like Brazil nuts.

Yes. mine were quite larger and darker like the right hand one even almost black. I wonder if it is better to start them off earlier. Sis did mine in Germany having got them in Florida and brought them to me as little shrublets.

This was July 2008 so I had them a year or so then.

If I had space I'd start them off now but it just makes life easier if I wait a while.

Just come back from a local garden centre, they had ensete maurellii for £60, less than 3ft tall.
Also there were some very sad looking citrus plants, reasonable size but leafless and what few leaves they had were bright yellow.
They were marked up at £50, I asked if i could take one off their hands for a tenner but was told, oh no, they just want feeding.
They needed watering let alone feeding.
Rip off place, it used to be privately owned, but now is part of a larger garden centre.

Me also ! If I showed everything I bought I'd be on this thread several times every week :heehee: but I don't usually bother.
Yesterday I bought two Lewisias. I've tried them several times with no success but I'm going to keep these in my new greenhouse.

Lovely plants. I had one some years ago but failed miserably in keeping it alive!

Leaping around the garden yesterday - lost my footing on the damp wooden steps and very nearly took a tumble - but grabbed hold of the archway and managed to steady myself.

Anyway - just purchased some of these anti-slip strips - you screw them to the steps. Safety first and all that....

Got some quite nice cacti from Lidl, £1.99 each. The Astrophytum has some odd growth at the base and something that looks like dried flower stems. I have made a tentative dig into the garage to select nice pots for them, and in the spring the seedling Astrophytums will probably go in with the Lidl one. The seedlings are rather small and look mouldy, but are still growing so there is hope.

The other Lidl cactus I nearly recognise, very pretty. Great if anyone can nail the name for it.

I also got a Pernettya from Morrisons, a nice sized plant to replace my need for a Gaultheria. Arriving home, I read the small print and realised the two are in fact the same

Good thing I didn't give in at garden centre with their £8 wispy specimen, much prefer to spend £2.89.

Nice that you've bought some cacti @Selleri but the first one looks like Gymnocalycium to me, and reminds me of G. mihanovichi.
The 'odd growth' are old flowers.

The other two together are Stenocactus. There are different species and I don't know which one yours is.
