Already figured that out. The three large ones will go on the step in front of the water feature ... Pots 27 Apr 23.jpg

I have always wanted an Alstroemeria. They were a big novelty for summer flowers when I was young, and since my plant purchases have always had a strict theme ("cheap"), I have never had one.

Lidl forced this one on me, £9.99, a big, healthy plant with vigorous roots. The colour is a bit too Barbie doll for my preference, and it could have had some more spots in the flowers' throats, but when a woman wants an Alstroemeria, a woman shall have an Alstroemeria. And The Child says the colour is perfect. :)

Great choice. I like alstromeria too and was much pleased to find some deep yellow ones growing here. I've been trying, very slowly, to spread them about and bulk them up :)

Quick, go and check your local Lidl, ours had a good selection of colours.

There was a couple who spent as much time as I did selecting the best of the bests, they bought eight! :yikes: Well, considering that the Lidl is right next to the very posh Jesmond, the couple probably bought them to brighten up their gatekeeper's lodge or the stables. :heehee:

I also got an Alstroemeria a week ago when my son took me to a plant nursery. I'd seen them growing in his garden for several years, now at last I have one! (No flowers at the moment so I'm not sure what I will get. I'll upload a picture when I get one.

Though not a plant I will be using this peat free compost for many plants this coming week.
