We went to a little plant fair in Narberth on Saturday, it was so lovely to wander about in the sunshine. And we actually bought a few things because there were more nurseries this year, the last one was very disappointing because it was mostly veg and annuals.
My OH couldn’t resist another aeonium for his succulent collection. And six jumbo plugs of short white chrysanthemums. We also bought twelve stocks (no idea what variety). The other things were weigela, white penstemon, erigeron, tall Veronica, geranium sanguineum with lovely glaucous leaves and a white dodecatheon ( we already have a pink one bought at the same sale year’s ago)

@pitter-patter they are lovely plants, but a word of warning about Love and Wishes. My salvia Amistad survived winters in Dordogne, SW France but Love And Wishes has never survived outside, even when well mulched. Best to take some cuttings to keep indoors in winter.

Thank you, @Busy-Lizzie. I’ve had all of them before and they haven’t survived here either. I should try to take cuttings, but I’m already overwintering way too many things in the house.

Ha! I bought some of these...
            upload_2024-5-6_16-4-8.png

They are only 40cm, but ideal for my beans which I start off in the house. I thought they would be pretty naff reading some reviews, but they are not! Ideal for my beans and the clip bit works a treat.

Garden centre visit yesterday ... and returned with wallet intact! :yikes:

Was tempted by a little Clematis Bijou, but wondered if the squirrels would eat all the very accessible low buds. They had the most beautiful stipas I've ever seen, but £14.99 seemed steep when I have some stored seeds I can get started. And a little lemon flowered begonia was appealing, but I have absolutely nothing to go with it colour-wise.

Still ... might go back without my sensible head on and give in to desire. :)

Unfortunately I haven’t been as disciplined as you @ViewAhead! These just fell into my trolley at the garden centre… Geranium ‘Azure Rush’

Discovered in Germany in 2007 as a mutation on Geranium 'Rozanne’, it’s supposed to have a more compact habit than 'Rozanne' but with the same continuous flowering habit.

Oh, @Athelas, Azure Rush is the best plant ever! Fab choice. Lovely leaves, nice compact habit, beautiful flowers right through to November. Perfect. I love mine so much I took a cutting, so now I have two. Even so, had I been with you yesterday, I would not have been able to resist a 3rd!

I agree with you @ViewAhead, Azure Rush is a great plant! Can you remember the variety of Stipa that you saw and liked? I'm always on the lookout for new grasses:)!

It was a regular stipa tenuissima. Nothing unusual, though it was gloriously tactile. :)

You were right to resist temptation at that price @ViewAhead! Some small ones I planted last year are getting to that tactile stage :).

That is truly odd! Maybe one part is a sport or genetic mutation.
