    Chamelaucium uncinatum.
It will need winter protection so I'll be planting it in a pot.

Ooh, I like that. Must look it up.

Edit. Looked it up. I had one of these not long after we moved here but sadly lost it as I was not used to gardening in this climate. Haven't seen it since.

I hope you can get one @Victoria, I think the leaves will be pretty even after the flowers fade and it will survive outside for you all year round.

Got a couple more plants at weekend. Another ligularia rocket for the bog garden and this tiarella sugar and spice in the sale section £3, I've since divided it into 3 and planted it with an actaea, the marking on the leaves reminded me of the actaea so thought they'd look well together.

This lovely Acer Enkan caught my eye yesterday and had to have it, such an interesting and very distinctive elongated and deeply lobed leaves and a lovely maroon colour. It was introduced in 1991 but hadn't seen it before. Looking forward to growing it on.

The same happened to me last autumn @amancalledgeorge - I’ve seen the acer Enkan and I had to have it. It’s quite small and it lives in a pot for the time being. Are you planning to plant it in the ground? Hopefully it will do well for both of us.

I will keep it in a pot for the foreseeable @pitter-patter it's quite a smallish variety by all accounts so will probably take a while if I ever plant it in the ground.

20% off outdoor plants in B&Q at the moment. I bought this pretty Iberis and a Polemonium Golden Feathers. 2024-05-29_17-36-13.jpg

                      It does sucker :)

It also self propagates in the right media. These were growing in the side of my tree fern that is underneath my mature TP Rex. I potted them up last year and the just about survived the winter.

After creating a couple of gaps in my borders yesterday, I thought I needed something to contrast with all the green which is expanding rapidly. I’ve noticed how well some of my young ferns stand out when their fronds are bronze so that’s the colour I’ve gone for. Today I bought another Phormium Bronze Baby, a small variety with red and orange highlights in sun, and Heuchera Marmalade with tones of bronze, copper and amber with a deep pink underside. (Don't tell the vine weevils!)

I ordered First Editons Gardenia Double 'Double Mint' from Italy on Monday the 10th and it arrived here Friday the 14th by UPS (£5 shipping) ...

                          Gardenia Double 'Double Mint'.jpg

It has lots of buds and says it blooms June-October.

This is the third plant I have ordered from them, a Nandina 'Fire Power' and a First Editions Hibiscus syriacus 'French Cabaret Double Purple'.

This poor plant had been sitting in a dark room at our local shop for some weeks. It had been watered using tap water and had no access to insects. It was looking quite crisp. The price tag was still £9.99, so I took it to the counter and said this looks as though it's on its last legs so I'll give you £1. They were glad to get rid of it.

I have now cut out most of the dead pitchers and can see some new shoots. I do love to rescue neglected plants. I only have one other pitcher plant and I think this is different.
