You're going to need deep pockets @Perki, not only to run 'four wheels' but filling it with plants.

      Knew you'd do it @Perki !
And now, you can think about driving to Farmyard plants... They have so much stuff they don't catalogue - you can just ask about a particular plant and someone will probably direct you to a distant polytunnel to find it

@cactus_girl Brilliant on your purchase. We also look for those so forgotten plants and have ended up with some stunners. Your Sarracenia looks so much better already. We grow them and keep them in the garden room as well as some others outdoors. They sit in rain water all the time.

I have just taken a new photo, which shows how well it is doing. It is still in its original pot at the moment and has plenty of rainwater. Really pleased.

I've been back to the mini GC just up the road and bought two more plants I've never had before.

A Zaluzianskya star balsam, or night scented phlox, was reduced from £5 to £1. I will keep it in a patio pot this year.

And a Pachira aquatica for £4. There was no label on it and the staff had no idea what it was. So I bought it. Looks like a useful houseplant. It has two more side shoots. I have now repotted it into one of my William Morris pots.

I have had mine for many years but am able to keep it outside on the Dining Patio. Here it is in May ...

@cactus_girl Brilliant recovery for your rescued plant. Hopefully it will continue to thrive and then next year you will have some flowers.

@Victoria wow it gets quite large then. I shall be able to put it in our hall, which is quite bright and gets filtered sunlight. I was thinking maybe it needs misting, but perhaps not. I like your quarter planter.

Went to Tatton yesterday ( volunteer on the breakdown on one of the small gardens ) had a look round and picked up just a few plants. Trying a Leonotis again the seller seem certain it will flower this year ( they've never flowered for me in the past ) 2x cardiocrinum Giganteum and two little fuchsia which caught my eye .

I've not been to a RHS show before bit surprised with the swarm of people buying/collecting plant displays , asked a few how much they were but never did find out seen as they'd already been sold. Anyone ever bought any ? were they cheap ish

@Perki , regarding Leonotis, I tried for a few years with L. leonorus, always flowered really late and got frosted.
Then someone put me onto L. nepetifolia which flowers much earlier.

I bought this Gazania in an almost completely expired state, for 10p from B&M. After I'd cut off the mass of brown foliage and all the dead flower heads, and given it a good watering, it thanked me with its one remaining flower bud. I got a dahlia in a slightly better state at the same time, also for 10p; I'll post it later if it flowers! 2024-07-22_15-59-05.jpg
