Those cardiocrinums look good @Perki - I bet you paid an arm and leg for them! Be warned - slug magnets. Mine is like lace now:gaah:

@CarolineL I didn't think they were to badly priced I got 2 for £10 , I had a feeling they'd be slug magnets so after I planted them out yesterday I put some wool pellets round them , they've not been touched yet. I were reading elsewhere that bulb let ones don't grow as tall as seed raised ones topping out at 1-.5- 2m tall which is a bit disappointing.

Thanks :) @noisette47 I don't know the insurance quotes have stopped me in my tracks at them moment :hate-shocked:

That's a very good price @Perki as they take ages to grow and yours look pretty big. Surprised by statement re size - after all, ordinary lilies grow just as big if grown on from bulblets or even scales (given time). I wonder if they just run to flower faster rather than spending more years building bulb size.

I recently got these three, the first two were impulse buys on visiting Hill House, the other one was something I'd been after for the past few years, after I'd killed the original while moving it (don't ask I'm blaming the erratic weather in spring)

Zanthoxylum laetum very spiny, foliage has an almost headache inducing smell, but lovely young foliage.

A headache-inducing smell? I might pass on that one, however lovely the foliage.

          Love the agapanthus @NigelJ
I had the alstroemeria once, but it was more fickle than the hybrids and died on me

Isn't it strange? I can't grow Alstroemeria Indian Summer for toffee, but psitticana is romping away.... My Zanthoxylum (whichever species it was) got the chop yesterday. It was dying by inches, probably another casualty of the wet winter. Having decided that i don't like the flavour of schezuan pepper in dishes, can't say I'm heartbroken....
:dbgrtmb: for A. Twister. Beautiful plant!

Have just picked up a couple of Monardas, which I've been wanting for a while. I thought I was going to have to bring the bees home with me! The pinky one doesn't smell of much, but the dark one is really pungent.
