Could not resist this Hydrangea from Aldi, whilst shopping this morning. Must have been delivered recently as it only needed a little drink when I got it home. The 1.1l pot it is in has NO drainage holes

It is going into a large deep pot, is there anything I should be aware of growing it this way?

Nice looking Hydrangea. I've never yet seen a live plant at Aldi!!

Is there a reason why you want it to be in a pot and not in a flower bed?

It's early for planting out but go for it! I'm doing the same this coming week as I already have a lot of plants that are hardened off. They are getting pot bound now so really need to go in the beds. They'll have to take their chances with the weather and slugs. :)

Was an impulse buy, best plant I have ever seen at Aldi and could not resist. Didn't think about where it would go :help:

We are thinking about a major change out front, and I thought a year or so in a pot until the changes are done would be the best idea

I really need to check up on best place to plant etc.... how I love and hate impulse buys !

Some Hydrangeas are rather cold-intolerant - particularly as yours has been indoors, and probably not hardened off. I would treat it as "tender" until after last frost this year, at least.

They prefer some shade too .... other than that just water and feed :)

Thank you, I shall 'harden' it off prior to planting. It will be going into a part shade area out front so should be ok.

I've got 4 Hydrangeas now dotted around the garden [mostly in light shade] but they are all White varieties as I have never found a Pink Hydrangea that actually keeps the true pink it had when i bought it. So I've always ended up with a "dirty" or faded pink flowering plant which is:wallbanging::gaah: to me. Obviously, this state of affairs is due to my soil which is neutral rather than acid. But the White varieties always seem to keep that clean, vibrant, white colour that attracted me to them.:snork:

Have to share this, Off to Aldi this morning they were advertising garden Obelisk, @ £9.99 Bronze metal 1,9m tall and 0 35m wide, ( Oh dear flat pack) always strikes terror, any way after feeding little fellah plus summat nice to wash it down He started to put it together after the usual huffing and puffing man style... I now have two really solid climbing frames for my touchey Clematis as they are in pots can be moved about. When I get my head around this smart phone should really be able to post a pic, They are really good so glad I made the effort, Aldi is a treck from where I live, I also stocked up on their sausages which are very meaty. It has rained all day which am well pleased about washed those freshly planted runners in must renew the slug bait this evening.

When the plants are first in at Aldi, they are very good. Shame that they don't look after them though! I got some clematis and some jasmine from their last week, also got some honeysuckle. They are planted at the front of the summer house so they'll look as pretty as a picture soon!

                            A local village held its annual plant sale this morning and I came away with;

                            An un-named Echeveria
                            A large Polemonium
                            Penstemon heterophylus "Electric Blue"
                            A white Dianthus
                            Salvia x jamensis (Raspberry Royal)
                            Persicaria odorata (Vietnamese Mint/Vietnamese Coriander)
                            A Nymphea (water Lily).

                            Cost me all of £7.50!
