I said I would update with a photo of my plantpots. I collected these today (bought on ebay):

£50.56 in total (they were three separate lots from the same seller). They were about twenty miles away, but I took the dog, the child and the other half, and we went to an English Heritage castle about two minutes from where I collected them, and made a day of it!

Well, I've been good to myself today :)

I went to get the new saw that I need for shed building purposes, and in the absence of any Spear & Jackson ones, I ended up with a Stanley FatMax - only used it once so far to try it, but I am very impressed; its not just as flimsy as the thing I was using, and cuts without any effort.

Whilst I was there, I had a bit of time to kill (never going to end well!), and ended up coming home with a new toy - already tried it out, and I can see already that its going to become one of those tools that you will wonder how you ever managed without it! Off the back of that, I have just ordered a set of various blades for it, which should hopefully be here by middle of next week.

I then toddled off to collect Little C from school, only to learn that I had (for the second time) forgotten that Thursday is choir practice day, and I was an hour early! So, to keep myself amused, I decided to go and get the slug pellets that I was needing.

Now, in my defence, I managed to get out without any plants, and I did get two packs of the slug pellets I needed, I just added on a wee Y-splitter thing with controls on it that is now screwed onto the outside tap, and lets me use the two Wilkos sprinklers that I bought yesterday, together....... (they are @clueless1's fault )

To be fair, I am entirely to blame for the Sonicrafter; I first saw one a few years ago on one of those very early morning shopping channel type programs and thought it was the usual 'too good to be true' things; a while later, we were getting some building works done at work and one of the builders was using one, and I got chatting to him about it, and he told me it was a fantastic bit of kit. Ever since then, I wanted one, but never quite had the 'excuse' to get one - until now.

I'm really chuffed with it - rock solid build quality (feels like a 'proper' tool if you know what I mean), and no doubt will be 'finding' jobs for a while.

We have chippies on site at the moment, and they seem to be using cheap saws - the site is littered with them, they clearly buy a box full, use them until they start to "dull" and then cliff them. I've been collecting them up as a) they still cut and b) I reckon are ideal for cutting though things like a clump of bamboo where the centre is bound to have stones etc.!

Of course I remember Woodwork at school where we were taught how to sharpen a saw, and reset the teeth ... I presume noone does that anymore ...

I've seen those on shopping TV when channel hopping too and wondered if they were any good. Looks dead handy.
