    Hi Jens

Has to be well drained if left outside all year , I think most alpine growers put a piece of glass over the top for the winter just to keep the crown dry, but with the air circulating though, you can buy special pane holders that you push into the ground then fit the glass into to keep secure , looks great I hope mine flowers this year , another 1st for me.

I am going to grow this in a 6 inch/ 15.24 cm terracotta pot then keep in the greenhouse over winter.

picture below for the idea and no not me , I bet you want one now

I like trying to grow different plants, my garden is always a work in progress.
I have PTSD and gardening helps, when I've not been able to get outside in to the garden I can get a bit depressed, thats when I have a trip to the local garden centre

I think this weather has been driving us all mad, Ian, and those of us lucky enough not to flooded or having any damage to properties are still in that Club.:hate-shocked::heehee: But it can get very depressing when you're trapped in the House watching the rain coming down and knowing you can't get out..............but we think of Spring coming and that helps.:hapydancsmil:

They have built gardens for military personnel to help with recuperation and have been designed for wheel chair access, and early reports say it helping

No PTSD here thankfully, but as someone who suffers from depression I know what you mean.
                    So, moving on...............

Edited to the ones that I know about.
                    Penstemon Barbatus Coccineus
                    Digitalis Laevigata
                    Digitalis Trojana
                    Penstemon Digitalis 'Huskers Red'
                    Campanula Takesimana
                    All choice picks Ian!

Bomarea Hirtella - be patient. Can take several months to germinate depending upon freshness. Keep it growing as long as possible in the first year (avoiding winter die-back if possible) to allow the tuberous roots to get as large as possible. Should bloom about 15/18 months after germination. A complete gem!

Rhodochiton (purple bell vine ) - if the seed is very small expect quite low germination. If it still has the papery outer coat on I find they germinate well in wet paper towel.

Leycesteria - can be a thug when mature!
