Think I need to ban myself from shopping? 3 more bags of compost, secateurs, coloured pots and a strawberry growing 'kit' from asda (me and little one potted em up earlier) and from wilko, canes, 2 12inch pots, potting on pots, fly killer and weed killer to try (normally use raid and round up) autumn king 2 carrot and kelvedon wonder pea seeds, a 'lanarth white' lacecap hyrdangea and a purple Azalea, never grown them before  Decided those small bfb boxes are not cutting it so gone for a 7kg box. Had to restrain myself from buying the reduced tubers/corms :gaah::cry3::heehee: 20160418_162448.jpg

No pictures because when I got home, I got changed and set about putting them in the ground

      But, I bought:
      1. Clematis: Miss Bateman
      2. Clematis: Alpina "Willy"
      3. Clematis: Alpina "Frankie"
      4. Clematis: "Dark Eyes"
      5. Clematis: "Guernsey Cream"
The only other climber I bought was
      • Jasmine "Inverleith" and it's her job to cover the arbour :heehee:
      Summer bulbs:
      1. 2 x Hemerocallis "Sammy Russell"
      2. 10 x Gladioli "Priscilla"
      3. 10 x Gladioli "Plum Tart"
Then, the joker in the pack: Alcea for £1 ... of course, now I've looked it up: aka hollyhock! :heehee:

All bought on the cheap from Morrisons and Poundstretcher.

Oh yes, nearly forgot :doh:scattered a 39p packet of night scented stock under Miss Bateman :heehee: hope she doesn't mind :whistle:

Not a new purchase but I wondered if anyone nowadays uses a manual carpet sweeper such as this

We do but it's not all that new. We've had ours for over 50 years and it still works perfectly and has never needed any repairs. :blue thumb:

The one we had retailed at 7/6d in 1953 (todays equivalent of about £6) but ours was free as Mrs Shiney worked for the marketing division of the manufacturers. The marketing division comprised of Mrs Shiney and her boss :heehee:, and he was the owner with the sweeper being named after him. His name was Mr Markt and the sweeper was the Markette. :blue thumb:

It is true, they can work remarkably well those hand sweepers. Also the electric ones, although they are a bit more noisy.

My Salvias were delivered today from Hayloft Plants.

I've never received plants in such good condition and perfect packaging. They also sent a new catalogue but I just wish they did a wider range.

Only cost £1 each, great bargain.
PS.... This is only half of them :)

I took delivery of six fuchsia plug plants - Purple Rain - which are now planted in a tall planter.

I've bought quite a few new plants recently:

Hydrangea paniculata grandiflora (which I plan to grow in a tree shape)
Hydrangea macrophylla Love (x2) to go in two new stone planters from Costco
                                Hydrangea macrophylla Cotton Candy
                                Hydrangea macrophylla Ayesha
Hydrangea macrophylla Wedding Gown (which I've been after for a while but until now could only find on US websites)
David Austin roses - Claire Austin, Princess Margarita (both of which have just about died off so am hoping they will replace) and Lichfield Angel
Begonia plug plants - Parisienne (upright not trailling)
Stock plug plants - Sugar & Spice.

I've donated some plants to make way for the newbies (even a couple of Rhodos :thud:) and probably a few more to go. As you might guess, my new obsession is Hydrangeas - particularly doubles.

I do have a couple of new borders to fill so will either plant some of them out or else plant some of my other container plants out so I can have them in planters instead.
