I just bought another Etesia lawn mower off ebay ....

has the Honda 5.5HP engine and long range tank ... looks good in the pics and the seller says it's in very good condition .... paid £150 (the new price is well over £750) ... picks up grass even in the pouring rain

I will sell 2 of my other mowers (a mountfield with a briggs and stratton engine, and a mountfield with a honda engine) .... I should get £80 for each for a quick sale ... paid a tenner for each from the recycle centre and both work perfect

long drive to fetch it though .... 100 miles one way, but will be worth the effort as these are really good and it will pay itself off, especially when it rains (which has been often) ...

I will have a new blade fitted, a new spark plug and airfilter and use it for the rest of the season .... then I will have a full service during winter ...

had another gander at the photo Dim. It looks in very good nick. Now why would someone not want to keep that? This throwaway society- suppose the colour tones are "so last season".

Not sure Jenny .... it starts 1st time, has little wear, no smoke, no dents, and very few scratches .... it seems fine ...

saw it newly listed last night ... but only bought it early this morning (I was not really on the market for another mower)

I will try it tommorow on a lawn .... blade looks fine aswell, so I don't need to replace that either

I need another strimmer though (thats what I was initially looking for) .... mine struggles to start and is on it's last legs ... and I'm struggling to find a decent used Stihl on ebay or gumtree for a reasonable price... been looking for more than a week so far

Oh well .... bought a strimmer but not a Stihl (a good used Stihl costs loads .... average on ebay for a good FS400 is over £300)

I clicked the button for a Honda UMK 431 LE 4-STROKE BRUSHCUTTER ... for £145 plus £20 postage ... not sure where he's from so maybe I will collect if it's nearby and less than £20 petrol to get there and back:

                http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230819919566

the listing does not state the model, but I emailed the seller asking ... I have never read any reviews of these , but the new price is approx £420 ... seller says it starts up 1st time .... it has 4 stroke 31cc engine .... these come with a 5 year warranty so cannot be bad?....

need it for a job early next week (the grass and weeds are waist high ) ...

Update on the Dhalia I bought last week. Now turning into a decent specimen. Plenty of new buds coming through. When I went to pick it up to clear the dead leaves around the bottom though, aaarrrggghhh infested with earwigs or clipshears as we call round these parts :gaah: Given it a spray with bug killer which is meant for aphids etc as that`s all I have. Will have another look tomorrow and see how it is. Any suggestions to get rid folks?
