received another purchase from ebay today ...

A honda UMK 431 petrol strimmer

paid £145 plus £20 shipping via courier .... it was a buy it now

before purchasing, I asked the seller if the strimmer was in good condition ... I was assured that it was in perfect condition ...

received it today .... there is no airfilter ... and the cutting head (part where you add the nylon) is missing a part

    starts 1st time though

will cost a few pounds to get sorted, but still a bargain ... I may as well have it fully serviced as these are very good

I will leave positive 5 star feedback and not mention the faults, and I will not email the seller as I don't think the lady knew what to check for

(my wife is moaning and saying I should always buy new ... but a new Honda strimmer of this size costs approx £400)

Saw your post on this strimmer the other day Dim. Shame it`s not perfect working order but as you say, a few quid to put it right still makes it a 'good buy'.

I was going to wait until we went to Cornwall to start replacing my Sollya, but as a local indy nursery was selling them reduced for just six quid I had to buy now................

Makes extra space in the car for other things when we go down there, so win win all round I reckon!

        Hi All,

        Got a Heuchera £2.29, Verbena £1.49, Geranium £1, trug £3 and 10x4ft canes £1.50.

        Plants.jpg
Got them from a garden center that supports people with disabilities, i am going to put a thread in the 'Retailer feedback' section. Worth a look for anyone in the birmingham area. I wish i got more Geraniums now though.

Love that Sollya, longk. I'm determined to grow it myself next year.
Rusty a nice little collection and for a good cause, great bargains.

I'm down in London for a few days and going to lurk at a quaint little garden centre tomorrow where they usually have some quirky unusual plants.

Jack McH gave me the heads up about the latest plants on sale at Lidl's today so I popped up to the nearest store and bought the below!!:heehee:

Banana plants for £2.49p..........so I bought two, but was tempted to buy more as there seemed to be a plantation there.:snork: The pot label only says "Musa" without any mention of the variety, while at the Selling Point it only said "Dwarf Bananas".

The Sollya does need winter protection - I lost my three year old plants last winter through my own stupidity:gaah:

The name of this quaint little garden centre is????

Dwarf banana is Musa acuminata, far too tender to winter outside, but if you get bananas then they will be edible. Also known as dwarf Cavendish banana.

There's lots on offer at B & Q I noticed today. I didn't buy anything, I'll wait and see if the prices come down a bit more. The reduced Cosmos looked very healthy and I was tempted. :)

Well, I've already got 2 Dwarf Cavendish, Stephen, [well, it's open to dispute as they are hard to id until in a certain stage] and a Musa Mannii, plus Ensete Coccinea which both I've grown from seed this year. The main Dwarf Cavendish has three young ones at it's base so I'll soon be separating them. All my Bananas over Winter in my Kitchen for protection.:snork:
