Not so much a purchase but more of a Freebie :snork:
Where I work my ex boss still lives onsite. I look after his garden now and again and saw this growing in a unwanted place.
It's black bamboo and was a pig to dig out, but managed to get a decent root ball out.
Decided to put it in a pot on my patio

Slugs ate all my dwarf potted sunflowers grown from seed I'd sown, so I couldn't resist this at 15p, especially as there's the equivalent of a few packets of seeds for next year on it. I also see it as a bit of a challenge to get it into good condition:

I've got a new David Austin rose - Lady Emma Hamilton - and a Rosa Mutabilis, which isn't looking too healthy but will try and nurse it back to health.

Dierama Reynoldsii and Dierama Cosmos. Just bought them in small pots as I've always wanted to grow them and thought I'd give it a go for next year.

Anyone have any experience of growing Dierama?

              Cheers
              GG

They need to be moist at all times in full sun. However, avoid excessive winter wet.
They dislike disturbance, so choose your spot carefully and get it right first time.
I've found them fairly hardy in the past, and have a pot full coming along for next year too.

Today I went to the garden centre and bought beautiful single flowered four dahlias in co-ordinating hues of orange, cream and lemon. Just the job for brightening up a dull corner. They were bargains.
However while I was there I succumbed to buying a heuchera called "Licorice" because it was shiny and lovely. Full price but worth it.
I was also treated to a cream tea - mmmmmm:cool:

I saw one of these today at carboot (it's called a Terrex spade):

I asked the seller what it was called and he never knew ... asked the price and he said £15 ... I offered £12 and he said no, so I walked away

just googled it, and these sell for over £100
