I was planning on going to RHS Wisley on Sunday as there was a flower show on, but i took the misses and the outlaws down to Hastings instead.

Fortunately i had invested in some Autumn and Spring flowering bulbs from a few websites on Friday so i got my fix anyway. There's 36 all in all so i've put a link for the images below to my Dropbox where you should be able to see them.

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xbru86mmzz9jy5p/0ePjD-KH2M

When you're there, only the images are displayed but if you click on the little box with the lines in at the top right corner it will display thumbnails and names.

We've found it to be a reluctant bloomer (ie; not yet!), but very willing to produce offsets. As far as the flower spike goes, some sources claim two metres!

Not really a purchase from me but the other half bought me this from the local county show to cheer me up while I've been unwell.

Poor thing had to carry it over his shoulder and has cuts and bruises all over the place.

I'm reading the encyclopaedia like a novel!
I'm enjoying every word of it, because I was dreaming to get hold of a BIG gardening book in English!:dbgrtmb:
And there were NONE in Sofia (just Bulgarian and Russian translations).
But now a new book store was opened down-town. To my surprise, it had popped up in a street full of fancy shoes, cosmetics, restaurants and casinos...

                It makes a great reading!

I got a Convulvus cneorum today, not worth photographing at this point, but that will go in the arid bed.

Jenny, what a lovely assortment of fruits. They look much sweeter by the book!

I'll see to the glass, Jenny! :heehee:
What I particularly like about the writing style of these books is that they serve a practical purpose. You can't imagine the way a Bulgarian author would approach the contents of a flower or shrub guide, for instance:

You will come to learn where the plant originated; was there any adventurer, explorer, conqueror, researcher, etc. who brought it to Europe and in what century; did it symbolise anything in whichever heraldic tradition; was there a conspiracy to poison any emperor/king/emir with that plant...

Only after demystifying all such indispensable details, the author would muster up his/her ultimate capacity to focus on the subject and round it up with:
This shrub would add a distinctive decorative feature to any garden.

                      Game over.
                      :sofa:
