I went into the city today via bus as had to go shopping...

we have the strawberry fair (annual event in our city) which started today .... the bus drove past the show, and I spotted a large stall with loads of plants ... right near the next busstop

I was not intending to go to the fair, however, I made my way to the plantstore and saw that the guy was mainly selling herbs .... but he had loads of different herbs and many of the same species (such as several types of mint)

at the very end of the stall, I spotted several castor oil seedlings (approx 200mm high, and they looked very healthy) .... asked the guy for the price, and he said £3 each ... so I took the 2 healthiest

I have the perfect spot for these in a garden

a very impressive stand, and I took one of his business flyers

this is his website and business ...

          Herbal Haven

          www.herbalhaven.com

it's a very good site for those who are interested in herbs, as they grow over 150 varieties ... and on their website, they sell the plants for as little as £1 per plant ...

The "Ricinus" sort of Caster Oil Seedlings? I hope people don't make salads out of them! (I know that you know better, so wasn't meaning you!!!)

LOL ... he had 6, I should have taken them all, as I have a few gardens where there are no children, and which is planted in tropical/exotic style ...

I'm still after the Zanzibar, but will replace these ones with Zanzibar next year, and I will attempt to grow them from seed

The won't survive the winter anyway (just checking that you know that - I'm sure you do - just wasn't sure from how you wrote it)

Easy from seed (but you need greenhouse / conservatory space of course ...)

it's first time I have planted these, (I planted 2 in a garden a few weeks back) ...

and it's definately worthwhile if you want to fill a gap with a fast growing large leaved tropical looking plant/shrub ... will look good with 2 red leaved ones on each side of a T-Rex

I will also remove the seed pods before they fall to the ground ... and will remove the plants in late autumn

I'm planning to save-seed (given the seed size they are relatively expensive to buy if you want several)

Went to Cotswold Garden Flowers yesterday on an extended road test (40 miles each way) and got three gems.

Tricyrtis ishiana and this, Albuca nelsonii.............

The third is a secret until it's in bloom!

I went to Nantwich yesterday and bought these from my Plant Market trader friend for £5. I've got two old stone cottage sinks in the borders and they need to be replanted and made to look good so these are the start!!:snork:
