Don't usually show off my seed purchases (in case of failure) but I've bought a lot of seeds from Scampton Succulents and always had good rates of germination, so I'd like to share with those interested.

    Bulbine narcissifolia seeds

    Lachenalia bulbifera seeds

Had close to 100% germination on all the Lachenalia seeds that I've bought from them.

Ordered some interesting stuff for next year in the JunglePlants sale:

Brugmansia Grand Marnier and Brugmansia volcanicola Lavender Lady - looking a bit sorry for themselves after spending the day in their delivery boxes by the front door while I was at work, but were perking up nicely once released & watered

Ensete montbeliardii and Canna Wyoming, hopefully I can get them thru the winter this year..

Big patch of nettles in the background. Must get around to chopping them down before they set seed, although it may be too late.

Well every year I plan to make some nettle wine & never get around too it, so they end up chucked on the compost heap... might explain why Im getting new nettles appearing in the veg patch where most of the compost ends up !

I always find Jungle Plant's packaging excellent. I wouldn't want to try to ship a plant that big with a "Just chuck the boxes over there mate" courier!

I would grow them on through the winter (at that size) if you have a frost free conservatory. Mine have been fine one that way, and have been rearing to go in the Spring because they hadn't become fully dormant.

Need to be careful the Ensete doesn't rot over winter, my suggestion would be to under-pot it so that it can easily drink whatever water you choose to give it, and then pot it on early in the Spring when it starts to make some growth. (If the pot is unstable then perhaps stand it in a larger, outer, pot and fill the outer with stones / gravel to stop it falling over)

Two plants from B&Q premium range -a Smoke Bush Grace reduced from £24.99 to £12.49 and an Acer Skeeter's Broom which was £39.99 but was looking worse for wear so I negotiated down to half price.

Well I had a lovely day at Harrogate Autumn show yesterday and even though I tried hard to resist, well not that hard lol, still came away with a few treasures, although I do know where they're all going honest :heehee:, I got 3 ferns for in the woodland border, Molinia caerulea 'Edith Dudszuz' ok not sure where this is going yet but been after one for ages and it kept calling me,Clematis 'Edward Pritchard', Aster 'Divaricatus' (wood aster) and a new plant to me looks very like a penstemon but another that likes woodland conditions Chelonopsis Yagiharana.

Spare Ensete montbeliardii (145cm) & maurelii (90cm) arrived today from Jungle Gardens closing down sale. Although I have found their prices on the high side everything I have had from them has been excellent packaged and the plants have been top quality - so worth the money, in that sense. I shall miss them.

I think the montbeliardii and maurelii I have had from them in the past have been superior to the ones offered in the sheds ... so I bought myself a "spare" just-in-case.

Picked up some plants from a lovely lady who is moving house.

4 x Bananas, several Gingers, Colocasias and a couple of Palms I'm going to have to look up as I have never heard of them :)

The boot was a bit stuffed!:
