    Just to keep us all going, here's some pics of my deciduous Azaleas from last year :wub2: They have a lovely scent.

      Thanks so much merleworld that's really helpful. The link is great too! The photo above was taken after I'd moved it the first time, still showing signs of slightly yellow leaves from its first site, but before the current problem hit. Reading the info in the link and looking at their photos and others on the web I'm convinced it's 'just' wind damage. It is a long way up from any water in the ditch, which only has a little trickle during the winter months. The ditches here are very deep as they are designed to take away a lot of water falling at one time, but are dry for most of the year. The wind is vicious here at times and the land next to me has been cleared leaving that spot very exposed. I shall take your advice and wait a couple of weeks (spring is a bit earlier here) and find it a cosier spot.
