Not the one I know. It goes like this:

        Gob snot and custard
        Green phlegm pie
All mixed up with a dead dog's eye
        Have some bread and butter
        Spread it on thick
        Then swill it down
With a cup of cold sick

I think I know the book you are referring to. I find planting in shade more frustrating than soil conditions. Most soils can be improved, light levels can't really.

What frustrates me even more is the blurred lines between partial shade, semi shade and "will tolerate some shade". I've bought and read several books on shade and still have no idea what partial/semi shade is as most definitions seem to differ from one another.

              Eggy weggy custard
              smooth bogey pie
mix it all together with a dead dogs eye
              put it on your toast
              spread it nice and thick
then wash it down with a cold cup of sick:heehee:

You'd certainly be out in the garden after eating all that.

I think given that the English language has been officially standardised for some centuries now (wasn't it the 17th century when the first 'official' version came into being?), we need to make a unified national version of that great literary work, taking the best bits from each of the local variants.

Pity it doesn't fit into the tune of the National Anthem, it would get a bit of attention at diplomatic functions.
