If you are not happy with it Nathan, then you can take it back to Argos for a refund within 14 days (I think). But looks ok to me.

There's nothing wrong with a Fender, Nathan - many good rockstars love their stratocasters!! :D

I guess I am another one who gave up playing (due to short fingers not being able to barre chords) and lost patience trying finger picking.
Learning to play the guitar requires a lot of (or at least regular) practice. Perseverence is needed as you will go through the 'I can't play, my finger tips are to sore' excuse but stick with it. ;)

I go back to I think what roders said, that the likes of Eric Clapton ... more than first class with songs like Layla ... can't even read music and play about four chords. No one will exceed him in my mind.

If you have it within you, you can do it ... you can but try and succeed or fail ... but that is up to the individual and what they want out of life!

I said my fingernails were too long, strongy is said his fingers are too short ... all of this is bull**** ...

Go for it Nathan ... [IMG]

That is a nice guitar Nathan. The Squier is a Japanese Fender (assembled in Japan with components sent over by Fender USA)and is highly rated by guitarists. I have a similar Squier in cream and I love it to bits. I would have said that the price is a bit on the high side but not outrageous because you also have a practice amp and other bits and pieces. If you need any advice, please mail me.

just as I recommended...... glad to see you got it! Dead easy, once you know! :D Good to start with taking the cover off the battery, and clipping it on to somewhere on the guitar! Then e-mail Trux, who knows everything!!!

Seriously - do have some sort of basic tutor book that tells you things like which string is meant to be tuned tp which note? If not, work from thickest to thinnest - EADGBE (Eat Apples Daily Grow Big Ears) tune the thickest first, low "E", twidddle the knob to go up or down to reach Green light on the tuner, with the letter E showing!!! It may have arrows to show whether you should be going up or down, or it might just have lights that are red (bad) or green (good)! Either way, it's just a question of fiddling around a bit to get it near enough right.

Then do the same with all the others. I find that frst lew E the hardest to get right, so don't get frustrated with that - get it nearly right, then go for the others and go back to it.

Each string has the name of the note it sounds when you play it open, that is, without holding it down at all. Then it goes up in two fret jumps, except to get to C and F. So, if you're on the A string, 2 frets up gets you to B, then 1 to C, then 2 to D, 2 to E, 1 to F, 2 to G, etc.

So there are lots of As Bs Cs, etc on the guitar - you'll get to know where they are as you need to - main thing is to get used to pplaying chords in the 3 chord tricks, and changing from one to the other in any order. It'll get to be secnd nature, honest!!

Lesson one is now over..... :D

Mmmmm - I had a little plastic thingy as a tuner with my classic guitar. You had to blow one bit and tune the string to that note - the wonders of technology now :D . Still twas good fun, til my interests changed.

'Every Alsation Dog Grows Big Ears' was in the instructions, I tried it, and I think I sussed it last night after posing the question ..... You are right, getting that first E was a nuisance ..... After that, I flew through the others :D ....... Just have to get to grips with it, will give Trux a mail at some point in the near future.

With the Guitar, I got a 'free' (nothing is ever free :D ) 1/2 hour lesson.

Don't forget to keep your left hand finger nails short - it'll make it easier to start with! :D

Those tuners are magic!! I love them..... have one permanently on my double bass
