Yea you do have the option pete, but that cost's money so you would need to look through the tariffs that Skype are offering, to see if it is worth your while.:thumb:

Little tip anyone may want to try (as you can always reverse it)

In tools on Skype there is an option of closing Port 80...this is the port that most of your Internet traffic goes through..basically. But if you close this port to skype then it will use another specified port....it may improve the signal.:thumb:

Have never used Skype, used others like Mumble and Ventrilo, but they're more for the online gaming type of thing.

I have a microphone so i might as well download it!

    Just a question,
does skype have any advantages over things like google talk and yahoo messenger?

You can have up to 5 people talking together, (voice communication), file transfer is quick and painless compared to some of the other IM applications. (speed obviously depends on your connnection) .

The facility to talk to people who don't have a PC only a phone, but as mentioned elsewhere this does need money, though IIRC considerably less than phone companies want.

Dunno Pete, never used them. What does google talk offer compared with skype? For instance, can you conference talk (as in speech) with several of your mates at the same time for instance?

I've not been settled anywhere for ages (too long :( ) so have never had a normal, regular landline. Got Skype a few years back, and paid the extra for "skype out" I now get free calls tgo all skype users (as usual) discounted calls to mobiles, free calls to UK landlines (so I can call luddites like my parents!) AND a regular uk landline number.

    Certainly works for me!
