Last year I was out every evening collecting slugs from the veg plot, and as an average I was collecting 250 a night. I did have a helper though, the fox that lives at the end of our garden. He would follow me around each evening often making me jump when he sneaked up and sniffed me. As I collected the slugs I would throw them to the fox to eat.:)
A win win situation, but sadly I haven't collected any this year, and other than potatoes, onions and garlic, the veg plot is bare.:cry3:

I tried some Asda Smart Price lager at 25p a can. My best trap was an empty chopped tomato tin, filled 30% with the lager. A mix of the remnants of tomato and the lager worked a treat. I can't think of a nicer way to die really for the slugs. Plus my slug pellets are bright blue, which is both attractive to animals and children, not quite sure what they were thinking!

I'm fed up with them - they have knocked lumps out of my courgette leaves (must have slithered up the pots) as well as munching on my lettuce and loads of other stuff.

Ummm cans might be better as used empty ice cream tubs like ziggy, but me thinks might be too shallow, one tub has about 12 dead andanother none ,depends where sited ?? need to be near a food scource i think.Need more beer back in supermarkets tomorrow for cheap beers, bin man must think I have gone alcoholic :ccheers:

Don't put em out for the bin man, especially if they are aluminium.

Squash em & take them down the scrappy once a year.

Emptied the traps yesterday afternoon, went out last night to find a slimey mess of slugs feasting on their fallen comrades. Seems slugs full of beer are even more atractive to live slugs than lettuce (which they ate as well of course)

Between 48,000 & 70,000 depending on the size. I usually keep my eyes open for any other bits of aluminium to lob in. That & the steel I colect up over the year usually come away with about £75 a time.
