Ah! The vagaries of the UK weather. :heehee:

You love the heat and I don't :dunno: but I'm quite happy with the cold and damp weather.

The air con (climate control ) in my car is never turned off. It's set at 22C all year round. It's the only way to keep the screen clear when it's raining or very damp. If I turn the air con off and just use the fan it doesn't clear the screen or windows properly.

According to my weather station records we had 24 days that were over 90F and another 56 days well into the 80's. Anything above 75 is too hot for me.

The main difference is that you're tough and I'm a wimp :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Your not a wimp @shiney we just like different weather.
Although I grow plants, a dry hot summer followed by a mild wet winter would suit me.

Somewhere where it never goes below 70F and never above 90F would be ideal in my mind.:snork:

My car heater is usually on 26C.

1 a.m. and just got home. Temperature is -5C outside according to my car. A fantastically clear night sky with stars everywhere. So I'm going to make a cuppa and sit outside stargazing for a little while. :dbgrtmb:

When out walking or working in the garden I'm quite happy with anything from 50F - 70F. Down to 40F is acceptable and up to 80F is also acceptable but I don't work in the garden with it above 75F Summer gardening starts no later than 5 a.m. and stops before noon.

          Latest report on Smart Meters:-

The amount you're predicted to save each year with a smart meter by 2020 has been reduced - from £26 to just £11.

The smart meter wireless network is now live but the first generation meters (SMETs1) don't link to the network so only your current (no pun intended) supplier can read it. These may not work across the network until 2020.

Second generation meters (SMETs2) will work across the network and are being installed, in some homes, now.

If you're having a meter installed you should insist on an SMETs2 as a lot of suppliers are still installing the first generation ones.

In the Daily Wail yesterday, as power cuts loom, the company can maintain power to its higher cost customers, at the expense of cutting off those on the cheaper tariff
Which is what I expected to be the case
A company does not spend millions of pounds on equipment to save its customers a couple of hundred a year

Our current rates work out at just over £1100 a year for gas and leccy - whether that is good or not, I have no idea

Expensive if you're in a one bedroom flat but cheap if you live here:-

Or, basing it on GC members:-

Expensive if you're @Scrungee and cheap if you're me. These two examples bear no relationship to the previous two :snorky:

I can not believe they are for the good of US, What company is going to pay out about £200 per customer to save the customer £30 a Year IMHO NONE
There was a programme on TV last week explaining how the company can control the household now by remote, IF you are running too much they can reduce the power
IF there is an area shortage, they can turn off selected households

Wednesday they Turned off all the Academics
Thursday they Turned off all the families with lots of children
                        Friday they come for ME

£630?! wow what am I doing wrong? Just had another final bill, after ringing up about the last one, £220 odd quarterly bill..just for leccy!

Was asked did I want a smart meter with the new company for both gas and electric but I don't fancy big brother watching (?!) I'll have a look at that programme Kandy mentioned later when it's on the itvplayer :)

@Linz , would it not be better to go on a monthly billing plan ? You then don't get good and bad bills . Also think about changing your supplier - look on Uswitch . My bill has come down from £125 a month to £80 over the last 3 years for gas and leccy . I changed to OVO and now with Avro.

How does a smart meter save you money??
                                I've never worked it out.

I can only guess by showing you minute by minute how much its all costing you end up sitting in the dark, drink cold tea and shiver.
                                Then you save money.
