Snakes- I have no fear

    There was a young child killed by one about 20 years ago in the Trossachs. A car ran over an adder and threw it into the air - it landed near the child and bit him. Unfortunately the child was particularly sensitive to the venom and died before he reached hospital.

    As I said earlier, the Common Adder is a very dangerous snake but in general snakes, for what I know about them, only attack when provoked.

    I'm not sure what you are saying Dave W, but I would say that particular snake was "provoked" by being run over ... personally I would find that rather annoying I must say ... and that the snake unfortunately landed on a child nearby and bit it because it was stressed and the child was sensitive to such ...

    It was one of those unfortunate things in life ...

    True Lol, I don't think many healthy adults have been killed by an Adder, it is usually the young or old who don't have resistance to the vemon but even so it is a particularly nasty experience to go through. Fortuntely snakes will avoid us if they can. Compared to Australia where there are more venomous than non venomous snakes, we are in a very safe country here.
