Well, this has been a morning of changes! Woke to dull grey and coooold! Then it started snowing thick and fast. So I just took a couple of photos. By the time I'd loaded them onto the computer, it had stopped like someone had turned off a tap, and the sun came out! Sheesh!

    Here and .....

Just beautiful when the su shines on it Daisees, but it always has the underlying danger in there somewhere.... Stay at home & keep warm Daisees, let a youngster try your job for a couple of days........... :hehe: Yes yes I know... :hehe: They won't know what has hit them......!! :gnthb: You nurses are all great, but sometimes us seniors need to push the juniors into things to make them get along.... I hope & am sure everyone will survive till you can get back safely...... Wrap up keep warm & watch a few old weepie movies instead...!!! :rotfl:

    Whoa, that's some scenery, Scotkat!

    Here's some more from me!

It's been snowing steadily all day, the snow in the drive is about a foot deep and I'm beginning to feel like the folk in "Seven Brides For Seven Brothers" when the pass was closed and they were cut off for the whole winter! It's no longer about going or not going to work, it's about surviving this event! (Not really - I am so well stocked up I could probably survive for 3-4 weeks if I had to! )

Why is it the back garden always seems to get more snow than the front? Most of my shrubs and plants are completely hidden. There are hebes under that lot!

And it's been snowing all day! Perfect!

Took little Willow out for a sledge this morning. Started to climb one of Dorsets steepest hills (Eggardon Hill) in the Nissan Airbag, fine going up till we got near the top. The road was just sheeted with ice so I pulled over to reverse into a field gate. Thats when the first slide happened. Dropped into 1st gear & very slowly (1mph or less) inched our way back down the 1 in 5 hill with a huge drop to the right of us.

Needed a cigarette when we got to the bottom, won't be doing that again.

Anyway, made our way to Seatown & had a great tobbogan. First time i'd done it since I was a kid. Forgot the golden rule, dont use the flat of your hand as a break, even if you are going backwards.:old:

    Just an update here

On one online weather site, I get this forecast for my locality
    [IMG]

But it's been snowing all morning, most of the time so thick I can barely see the houses across the road. Very nearly a white-out! If that's "light snow" I hate to think what heavy snow is like!

And these are the satellite image for Thurs and Fri! The red dot is roughly where I live! :(

Due to the Gulf Warm Stream, the British islands have a mild climate.
But when the Gulf Warm Stream quit its "disturbance" (due to many metheorological reasons), then the real "british temper" come out.
It's a "temper" of a northern land (same latitudes as Siberia and Canada) that shows all its extreme conditions of cold temperatures and heavy snowfalls...
After all, during the glacial ages, Britain was a huge ice sheet "soldered" to the European continental mainland.
