Well at least Corbyn is more likely to answer questions directly, i.e. not in that long winded fashion that you describe. I find his style very refreshing. He appears quite perceptive of the intent behind questions posed to him....maybe he has had a lot of practise with this! Ha!

I am not so sure that the Tories want what Jeremy is proposing. Cameron gives excuses as to why we have to have austerity i.e. because we don't have a strong economy. He uses that same argument for other issues as well. Surely the current status of the economy rests on where money is allocated, i.e. it can be reshuffled/redistributed? A matter of priorities?

    That takes me back! :old:

I have been a member of three unions the SU (now NUS), NUS :noidea: (now RMT) and USDAW and was the equivalent of shop steward in one of them. I became rather disillusioned when there was a national vote on a strike and the officials at the meeting had strong arm men leaning on some of us to be quiet. I was quite intimidated by two hefty men telling me that I was to keep quiet.

That turned me against extreme views of any form - but I felt a bit better when I got my own back later that year :heehee: (just using words :blue thumb:)

This is, wrongly, attributed to Cicero in 55 BC but is still quite apt.

"The Budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed, lest Rome will become bankrupt. People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance."

It was actually written by Taylor Caldwell (female :love30:) in 1965 in her novel "A Pillar of Iron" and it is in that book that Cicero says it.

Yes - key word there being "should"....ideally.

Ideally there should be no need for wars if we were emotionally as advanced as our technology...

That was not what I said:doh: What I said was regarding the NHS, which is what we were discussing, was.....

Corbyn want's the same as all the other Political Parties......the surviveability and viablity of the NHS...........after that, his extreme 1945 policies disagree with all modern thinking.:dunno::coffee:

So does Nigel Farage:dunno:, but I wouldn't vote for him nor buy a second hand car from him:heehee:

There are very few things in Life that are "ideal" and nothing in Life is as it "should" be, RB.:dunno::heehee:

You really think the Tories want the NHS to survive and not be privatised? [IMG]

I would dispute, at least, that the Tories want the same thing at all as Labour e.g. to tackle austerity. When this topic came up, Cameron effectively dismissed it with the excuse that we needed a strong economy first. As mentioned in a previous post though....

Exactly right. :blue thumb: It's just that nobody can seem to come up with a viable and fair distribution. I think gardeners should get some bonuses. :)

To be honest with you, RB, the NHS is a different subject completely and deserves a better position than in this thread.
But, yes, although I am a Labour voter, I do believe Cameron and most of the Tories want the NHS to survive without being privatised in the extreme way they are portrayed to want, but in a different form to what Corbyn and "let's nationalise everything" view and the "let's outsource" some services services that the other parties, including Labour, would like. But, as I said, the NHS is a completely different and complex issue than the original question of this thread.:coffee::snork:
