    I've lived in Essex for all of my 21 years.
    The sterotypical Essex accent has elongated, slack vowel sounds. Some examples:
    About = Abaah (Ts are often dropped)
    Something = Summin' ; Sumfink or Sumfin
    Nothing = Nuffin'

    And then of course there's Essex slang, a lot of which I don't actually understand because I'm just a fraction to old to have really learned it. I know that "rough" means ugly; "bear" means very (e.g: "he is bear fit" means "He is very attractive"). Then there's supposed terms of endearment such as 'dinghole'...the mind boggles.

    As for me personally, my Dad would always correct me whenever I dropped my Ts or pronounced my 'th' as an 'F' (like 'nuffin'); plus the fact that I grew up with one half of my family Irish, the other half Welsh with plenty of Londoners in between. This all makes for an interesting combination, I suppose!
    I sometimes say 'Yurr' instead of 'year' (like Welsh), or the Ts on the end of my words will be soft and pronounced as a soft 'ssh' sound (like Irish). :rolleyespink:

    People use ''bear'' and ''rough'' up here, just think it's part of the chav vocab throughout England/UK!

    & welcome to the forums!

    Thanks, kyleleonard.
    I do think words like bear and rough are used quite widely now :)
    Dinghole, however....:huh:

    I really have no way of knowing :heehee:
