I shall move my post from the other thread over here then ...

Wind Song by Prince Matchabelli which I've worn for 45 years + interspersed with First by Van Cleef & Arpels and Cléa by Yves Rocher. I also like L'Air du Temps and Nina by Nina Ricci but I don't have either at the moment.

I was taught that you spray the perfume and walk into it ... if not a spray then you daub a little behind the ears, the pulse at the wrist, between the cleavage and behind the knees. :spinning:

I can't stand it when someone walks past you, perhaps several meters away and their 'scent' lingers ... :eeew:

I like Vetiver by Guerlain. It's supposed to be a man's scent but I love it. I have the shower gel and use it all the time as I find the cologne a bit over-powering. Nearly £20 a tube but it's my little indulgence.

Unfortunately, I'm allergic to strong perfumes or even mild ones in an enclosed space. I'm OK with a light touch of perfume on a lovely lady :love30: :).

It appears to me, that with quite a lot of the fairer sex, the amount of perfume they use increases with their age.

For me, I love the smell of burnt 2-stroke. Maybe because I loved the motocross as a kid (and still do, except nowadays because of environmental regulations, most of the bikes are 4-stroke).

I also like the smell of fresh hoss-poo. There's nothing like it for clearing the airways.

Or if we're talking fragrances that are generally accepted to be nice, Rosemary or Lavender.

That's because they get so used to their favourite, they need more on to be able to smell it on themselves.

                  I love the smell of:-
                  a two stroke engine exhaust
                  Wet Spaniels
                  Bacon butties
Why no one has made an after shave with these is beyond me. I am sure it would make us men irresistible

the sense of smell and taste decreases with aging, this is why older people tend to use more perfume, simply because they do not perceive it.
I like to wear perfume when I go out and I use only a few drops or a small spray behind the ears, never exaggerating.

my favourite: poplar tree leaves on the ground, this scent is not easy to catch but the very best of all, maybe because its so elusive

                      other nice smells:
                      pine tree resin
                      jasmine
                      smell when lighting a match,
when doing a BBQ, put some beer on the meat, most of the beer will drip in the flames and smell gorgeous (don't worry we still drink most of it)

unexpected nice smells in the garden: was digging some chives out today, it smelled nice, also when i went past the( more or less finished off) clary sage and brushed it with my shoulder - it still smelled strongly of grapefruit

                        Wood smoke.
I love the subtle differences in the smells given off by various types of wood when burnt.
Oak, Elm and Applewood in particular give off a lovely rich fragrance.

This is the time of year when you momentarily catch the rich aroma of an autumn bonfire as you're driving along and you pass through that telltale blue haze drifting across the road from a garden bonfire. Lovely.

Loveweeds, I'm with you on the smell of Poplar leaves. It's a subtle but distinctive smell which many people seem unable to detect at all.
