BM, YOU wrote "who do you think will be doing the pree launch testing" hence my mention of it.

Paul this is the clearly highlight reference. The question refers to GC£ not rep points:thumb:

Ok, but my comment STILL stands. This could have been done using a fake user in the moderator tools area.

Okay, have just read both this thread and the question thread thoroughly.

I'm shocked frankly at the attitude some people have had. I daresay that by some i am seen as a whippersnapper who only has an interest in gardening and doesn't contribute effectively to this community, but i like to think i'm a whippersnapper that can embrace someones literally hours and hours on end of hard work to improve our community resources. So what its come with lots of new shiny bits, i personally think they could work fantastically with the running of the site, and if you don't like em, ignore em. Its not like you've got to hurdle each feature in order to make a post.

By the looks of things, they simply put the full works on here for us because we COULD have adored the fresh running of the site, they didn't do it purposely to tick you off. Now we're eliminating the lesser appreciated bits it should be more popular, and i hope people begin to enjoy the new features and find them useful.

Richard and Nate - I am loving it! :D As a novice i think tags are great, they're invaluable for research and tracking information. It sounds like you've got a real treat for us in line with the rep and £GC! Really looking forward to it. I'm not amazing with technology but i try to learn as i go, if theres anyway i can be useful for testing or whatnot, let me know!
Owe you both a pint and cookies.

"Please feel free to add feedback regarding the new features to this thread."

    My personal view:

The toys and gadgets are a distraction, and I have been spending far less time here than of late because the noise-to-signal ratio doesn't suit me, personally.

A forum that solely attracts discussion of gardening (or at least makes it easy for me to follow new threads, but exclude forums that are for off-topic etc.) would get my patronage [if that's the right term?]. I'm open to suggestions if this is something I can do here already.

I'm pleased to hear that you are hopeful of fixing the attach-image, I think that will be a significant improvement.

My recommendation would be that new features, where Admins are able to configure them, should be off by default. Existing regular users can then be made aware of the new features, and how to turn them on / use / play etc. but for Newbies / "Occasionals" pinching up here to ask their first / occasional question all this Piggy Bank and Rep Power stuff is just clutter. If you want to be a general discussion site then fine, if you want to be a garden discussion site, primarily, then Google rankings for gardening postings is what is going to bring people here, and my opinion is that you want to make their first / early visits as easy, pleasurable, and successful (in terms of getting friendly accurate/plentiful answers) as possible, and then they are likely to return for more advice, or to become a frequent visitor and part of the "regulars" community

I expect I'm being thick, but I haven't managed to find it there.

It's here - right at the top of the Edit Options page. Take the tick out of the box and it's gone!

    Hmmm ... I don't see that.

Under "Edit Options" I have a section at the top for "Login & Privacy" which contains "Use Invisible Mode", like your picture, then "Allow vCard Download", and that's it for that section.
