I believe the property insurance increases considerably too.

I believe Solar Panels are a good thing.....in themselves. Future technology will, hopefully, make them more efficient, cheaper and cost effective.
The problems seem to be more about how it's installed, serviced, contract viability and all the issues with that, plus Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutes views on it. No organisation that gets involved in this energy field seems to have the real green issues at heart but are just in it for the money, short term and long term with after installation parasitic contracts that keep feeding them income.

We naturally like the idea, it's the implementing of it that put us off and other problems it could cause.

Yeah, but there's business and business, Pete. All the people trying to make a quick buck and those trying to use clients as a long term source of revenue are the one's who are in fact putting people off and slowing the technology.

Without grants from local authorities or government, nobody is going to make a buisness out of this, without long term gain of some kind.

Which suggests to me its not really the money maker it first appears to be.

Free energy, there is no such thing, not for the consumer anyway.

As I said, I like the idea of solar panels in preference to wind farms, but this is all just tinkering.
They want us to drive electric cars, but then shut down power stations.

The whole green energy thing is all just pie in the sky, us as consumers will never benefit.
I think we all pay extra on out bills now in the form of green taxes

Solar panel, salesmen are the New DOUBLE GLAZING Salesmen of the 70's

Same old routine, buy tonight and it will be £1k cheaper
Hang on I will phone my boss
Boss says you and only you can have them at a one off £1.5k cheaper tonight
    Same old companies
Our local one even uses the same name *&^&*(&^ double glazing for your Solar free energy

There just is not enough open free information, to make a decission

I have money to invest, the bank is only giving at a max 2%, so I am losing capitol every day due to inflation
So free energy would give me a better return, until you are hit with a maintenance bill, or a new inverter
As I said in my previous post too many if's and and's

Well, you're right, Pete, we do pay an "environmental" tax, extra to the VAT you pay already, on energy bills. That tax goes partly to pay for house insulation etc, and the rest of course into the Government's coffers to pay for MP expenses and bar bills.
