Some much needed compost advice, please

    Rob, if you compost your own waste instead of the council having it you will be saving them using extra fuel (however small) to transport it. Although it is only a small reduction in their use of fuel for transporting it, it is also only a tiny reduction in the fuel lost to them by it not being included in their biomass.

    It seems to me that it's a 'no brainer'. If it's going to be used in its entirety, which it will be if you compost it, it has to be a good idea to do so. If you produce sufficient, it will also reduce the need for so much manure which will also reduce transport costs and/or leave the manure available for someone else to use.

      Another thought for you Rob...what do all your gardening neighbours do and what do your local authorities suggest for the home gardener?
