Some visitors to my garden

Look forward to seeing pics of your Robin. Yes I do miss my little friend around the back garden. He was there for about 6 months after his injury and had made it through the winter so dont know what happened to the tough guy. Think their life span is about 2 years and he was a regular in the garden prior to his injury.
They, Robins, are keen on feeding stations and though he tried he didnt like the fat balls/ peanut holder

The robins here in France are very shy, not the same characters as the English robins.

 

This is the only photo I have of the robin where you can see his single leg.


This is him at the back door for his food, but you can't see his legs properly

I'll take my 'Grinch' hat off for 5 seconds, @fairygirl, and say that top photo of yours would make a great Xmas card! Lovely, wee bird you looked after.

A male blackcap on the feeders today. Lovely to see him. We do hear one singing out in the garden during the year but so hard to see in amongst the trees.

 

I have mentioned this before, not sure if it's on this site. Some years ago there was a whole wildlife special on Robins, among the surprising revelations it was said that the Robin in your garden in winter is hardly ever the same one as the summer. Apparently the majority all move South a bit and some come here from Scandinavia. Now if one only has one leg, it's easier to know if it's the same one, but most are not. Quite a few perish in transit especially if it involves flying over the sea in harsh conditions. As already said they only live 2- 21/2 years anyway.

I don't think I have seen a robin in summer, @Allotment Boy, but last year I had one friendly robin in early winter and about 3 weeks later, another robin joined it - I presume they were a couple. Not sure if a pre-existing couple, or they met in my garden. It was lovely.

 

We always have robin visitors - all year round, but I know a lot of them are from further afield, and they move around. I think it would be very difficult to tell whether the one you see now would be the same as one you might see next July, unless there are distinguishing features.
We often get a bit of a rammy with a couple of them fighting over territory. We had two strong contenders this year, and one was very persistent, despite the other one getting seriously hacked off with him.

Glad the video worked, and you enjoyed it @ClematisDbee . I had to do it a different way from the previous method I'd used, but I got there!
