Sowing veg. outdoors

    Roxy,
    Growing your carrots in toilet roll tubes is a tried and trusted method. Paper towel rolls even better if you like them long and straight.
    The idea being that you dont disturb the roots when planting outside and they dont hit any stones to deform them.

    Miraflores i grew my carrots in toilet roll tubes and they did much better than the carrots sown later, directly into the soil. Its good because it means you can sow a little earlier rather than sowing into cold, wet soil. Also, when you plant them out you will have no gaps in the rows compared to when you may have sown them direct.You will have no need to thin them either so reducing the risk of carrot fly. I also tried some parsnips in toilet roll tubes and i got some great long parsnips
