I've just pulled up these websites of places of interest for kids. Most of them may be too old for your lad but people I have spoken to say the kids like Paradise Wildlife Park - about half an hour away from us
    http://www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/family-fun/Paradise_Wildlife_Park/4960
which is on the list below

Also, if you think he's old enough, on Sunday there's the airshow at Duxford (Imperial War Museum) about half hour north of us on the M11.

Colchester Zoo is worth a look. That's pretty much aimed at children I've always thought. It's a bit pricey though. Also the castle nearby is pretty good, but haven't been there for years.

In the day time it's an ok "seaside" resort. It has a small theme park and arcades. Clacton on Sea is much better though.

clueless1 If you're going to Clacton and think 'Oop North' has the monopoly on depravation deprivation, go to Jaywick Sands

It's only a few miles from Clacton and it's the most deprived area in England. I was there a couple of months ago and as I had about £1,000 in my pocket I didn't get out the car. If you buy a property there for about 40K and use the address for getting your kids into Uni they'll all get max grants, bursaries and all of their £9,000 p.a. tuition fees paid - then sell it on, just like what people do when they've used an address to get their kids in a good school.

A bit of TLC and that'd be lovely.

I am so sorry that I will not be able to meet up with you all this weekend - I had hoped that I would be able to find time but sadly not. I had to go to Holland for a couple of days for work and only returned today. Which means I will end up working most of the weekend.

I hope that the weather shines on 'Mr Shineys paradise' and that you all have fun - from what I have learned of you all in the short time I have been a member of GC I am convinced you will. Hopefully I will see you all next year.

                    Have fun everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gutted I'm going to miss you all on saturday, I have to do a friend a favour that day now
If anyone is there on sunday, I'll see you there! Come say hello, I'll be the one with the mother and unruly collie in tow! (unless either are too badly behaved, in which case they'll have been banished to the car :snork:).

You all know that we have a bookstall as well and there will be some gardening books on it. I'll ask the people that are running the stall for us to put them in a separate box and we'll get the box over to the GC table so that you can have first choice.

Here are a couple of the books. There won't be a set price for them and you can make us an offer :blue thumb:

The first book, on Amazon, is £25 and the second is £16
