Regrettably, we now find it necessary to cancel the Open Garden (first time in 20 years). With only two months before the date we think it advisable and prudent to cancel.

Even if there is no longer warnings to not socialise (quite unlikely) a large number of our visitors would still be distancing themselves.

Also, we can't keep all our entertainers and helpers not knowing what may be happening.

Grove Cottage, the charity, have had to close because of the vulnerability of their members and have set a minimum time of 12 weeks. Some of their volunteers help set our place up and provide the essential washing up members.

A lot of our other 20 volunteers, all friends, come within the 'at risk' groups for one reason or another and it's not fair to expect them to put themselves in the firing line.

At present we are now aiming at continuing our event at the same time next year. There's an outside chance that we may arrange something smaller later in the year.

Thanks for all your physical and moral support over the years.

 

I will be there then, Shiney, on either occasion. It's a sensible decision to cancel the Open Day but a disaster for everyone either organising, volunteering, or visiting. If we can't be there this year, then we can look forward to being there next year.

Thank you for making this decision now Shiney ,it must have been a tough one for you to make, it is the best decision for everyone under the present circumstances. It's such a shame Grove Cottage has had to close and I sincerely hope their members keep safe and healthy, that's all that matters right now.

They're keeping in touch with all their 'members' but can't take the chance of having them all socialising. They will arrange for any problems to be sorted out for them.
