Went in this morning and had the new lenses fitted, much better, I can now read nearly as well as I can with the £10 ones I bought in Waitrose. As to the distance pair, kind of given up on them, I'm pretty sure the minute difference they make was not worth £200, I had pricier frames for them, as I thought I might be wearing then all the time. And to be honest, I cant see why the frames were so expensive. Supposed to be made out of titanium, but probably less than an ounce of the stuff. They dont look much, and the fancy case they came in crushed when I put it in my pocket.. Feels like its made out of cardboard glued together. Does anyone else think opticians might just be running some kind of profiteering
Resurrecting this thread, sorry. I had another eye test today at Boots. They did the usual test on the glasses I bought back in Jan, then did a pretty extensive test of my eyes, it took twice as long at least to the first place I went. Anyway I got confirmation that my eyes are healthy, its just that I cant see very well. The optician said she had come up with the same prescription as my first test at the other place. Wasn't till I got home I compared the two, dont look quite the same to me, but then what do I know. Todays is at the top, Jan test is in the fancy card below. Just wonder if its a case of the professionals sticking together? Cant get it round the right way, sorry, pics have gone haywire on here for me again.
@pete have you been tested for Diabetes as a friend of ours went to see his optician because he suddenly had eye problems and couldn't see and the optician sent him straight to see his Dr for tests and it was confirmed that he had developed Type2 My eye test at Boots a few months ago took 1 3/4 hours and I was more concerned that we would get a parking ticket as I had only put two hours on the clock which I thought would be enough for a simple eye test
Yep, not been tested for diabetes but they said my eyes are healthy, nothing showing regarding that, or blood pressure problems. Apparently my eyes are fine, but just cant understand how they can say their prescription is the same as my original one
Yep they do to me also, but she definitely said it was the same as the glasses I have, she didn't know I had the card from the first place. I should add, I did take them back and they did reduce the reading glasses by one notch in my right eye and two in my left eye. But nothing was said about me needing glasses for distance.
I dont think my Doctor would want to get involved. He doesn't like people who are ill, eye problems are not something he likes, when going to him because I had conjunctivitis, he gave me a prescription for the drops I had already tried, that could be bought over the counter. I told him what I had been using, for two weeks, but he still went ahead.
It seems to me that you should be seeing a different doctor. Oh! I forgot You can't see properly so you wouldn't know if it was a different doctor We have some good doctors near Shineyland. I could send one down to you - although the postage might be quite high.
Good morning @pete I took the liberty of turning your photo round and enlarging it because I couldn't see it with my new glasses on
