    Strongy, the limit is above each lane of the motorway when its turned on.
    If its not on, then the limit is 70.

    Dual carriageways are usually 30 when they are in built up areas or particularly near houses or schools. The dual carriageway will increase capacity. You get it on the roads running into Central Manchester. Everyone trundles along in both lanes at the same speed at peak times. If someone comes up the back and tail gates, I move over and let them get caught by the cameras. If not possible i just give them the fingers.
    I think we could do with a higher speed limit on the motorways. Putting it up to 80mph would bring us into line with the French who seem to have a sensible system.
    There it is 80 on the autoroute, 70 dual carriageways and about 60 on ordinary roads. There is also lower limits in wet weather which is sensible.I like their idea of slowing down speeders. They don't warn you of speed humps. You realise they are there when you become airborne :D
