I love spell checker, I'm not dyslexic, I was just lazy at school (like most "dyslexias") whatever makes life easier I'm all for, why struggle when you dont have to.... I also use a Rotavator instead of digging with a spade, you get me now??

Spell checkers never seem to be able the spell the things that I cant spell, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, for instance, it says I've spelt it wrong and suggest some strange alternatives.:)

Using Chrome (probably works with IE these days too) I start typing that into the address bar and it does a Google lookup using predictive-search, and I can down-arrow (NOT click!) which puts the choice into the address bar (WITHOUT doing the search - i.e. I can edit it further if I want) and from there I cut & paste it into wherever I need it.

I tend to use this if I am making a wishlist of plants, or copy-typing a handwritten list I made whilst watching Gardeners World or similar ... only trouble is Chrome shows the results in all lower case :(

I dont type it into the a address bar, it's when I type it into a message.

Typing it twice is a pain, I can only type with one finger.

Sorry, I wasn't clear (although I don't mean to imply that this is easier, just an "alternative")

For a plant name I type into the address bar, once the predictive text offers the one I want I arrow down to select it, then cut & paste (from address bar) into the message

6 characters got me the full "metasequoia glyptostroboides" :dbgrtmb:

Reminds me of my first proper job, I had to choose some colleagues to help in a labourous mundane task, the old boy in charge told me to pick the lazy ones, they always find the easiest way to get a job done with minimum effort. He was right :WINK1:

You're a brave man FM to put your life in the hands of this forum. You've had a hard life and you've brought yourself back from the brink, that deserves acknowledgement alone. Well Done! Most of us accept that you have a difficult time spelling and we take that on board, it's not a problem for me anyway. :) But there are those that expect perfection and are not prepared to accept other peoples difficulties. That's their problem and they need to deal with it, not take it out on others.

Folly Mon, I for one like you as you are, it wouldn't do for us all to be the same. Keep smiling! :) Now where's that spellchecker!

Fidgetsmum, Folly Mon has said on more than one occasion that he's dyslexic, this has nothing to do with his education.

Well said :dbgrtmb:, both Sheal and Folly Mon.

Although, I do expect perfection - but only from me! :heehee:
