    :dh: I know it is nothing much to do with it but I remember my Granny had a walking stick made from a Brussel Sprout plant... It was so strong..!! She was just 5' nothing tall & I was always fascinated by it but hated sprouts till I was married..!! :rotfl:

    Red Onions are too easy Sussexgardener. They're what you give to the kids for a can't fail grow.:wink: Buy some sets and plant them now. And plant some shoulder to shoulder to use as spring onions - while you wait for the real challenge :hehe:

    Walking stick cabbage could be good :yez:
    We're looking for a piece of nonsense here :yez:

    Blimey, that looks like a lot of work. Some nice onions though, can you still eat them at that size or are they all cellulose ?

    I think the walking stick cabbage is a good idea! We can judge the height of 'cane' produced...then it would be great fun to compare photos of a finished stick for any who want to have a go...try our hand at making a handle etc!
