"Maybe we can even have a comp for the best walking stick afterwards"

Indeed - isn't the idea to grow a curve, rather than just "height"?

Can't remember the procedure, but it might be to train it "along", or "around" even, and then "up" - so the handle-end is the bit nearest the ground.

When it's been decided, perhaps we need a new thread, just for the competition? To keep things neat and tidy.

    Good link Kristen.

Yes, we'll need a new thread and a few basic rules.

I saw a piece on Countryfile a while ago about the production of them on Jersey...always thought it would be fun to try....as we are making our big move to halfway up the northern slope of Wharfedale anytime soon...don't think I'll be producing 18ft monsters though!! This is fine by me, I only need a stick suitable for a 5ft 1" person anyway:hehe:

I agree for the first part, but surely it will be fun to see who has the best walking stick in year 2?

Yep that sounds good, if the marvelous mods can put the new thread as a sticky somewhere Then I'll post the links to cultivation that you guys have been so good to find at the top of that.

Are we agreed on the BIG BRASSICA then ?

Shall I start the new thread & then let Auntie Alice work out some rules for us :thumb:

    Go for it Ziggy.

I'll volunteer to buy a packet of seed and distribute it, if people are happy to PM their addresses, or we could have a pyramid, I send seed onto 2 or 3 who then send it onto another 2 or 3 etc.

It would be more fair for us to send you stamped addressed envelopes John.
