Is there a shortlist or is it definitely the funny cabbages?

If the latter, then by all means set up a new thread - perhaps entitled 'The Gardeners Corner Walking Stick Cabbage Competition' ?

If there are no objections then I'll do that Aaron.

Be a bit of fun & we can always do other species the following year, looks like we've started something here.:gnthb:

Aw am I too late to vote?

It'd be unfair to go for bindweed - I'm an expert at that, and would kick all your asses.

So I vote for hemp. Cough.

Sorry Andrew, maybe Marley & Alice would let us do hemp next year, purely for medicinal purposes of course & any profit we make from it would have to go to charity.

I think so Pete. Seeds are fine (I used to buy them for fishing). But the germination and cultivation of plants is illegal, unless under licence.

    I believe.

Oh well the frost kills them that pic was taken in 2008.

So what other plants do the powers that be say we cant grow in this free country.

BTW my plants were from seed from the tackle shop, not the real stuff I'm told.

There may be loopholes. I can't believe it's illegal to grow it as a garden plant, for example.

You're allowed to grow Papaver somniferum after all!

Still Cannabis Sativa & still illegal i'm afraid Pete. It would be the real stuff if you put a cloche over it & gave it very little water in late summer, it would then produce resin to stop its leaves drying out, the resin is what contains the tetra hydra cannibinols or TCH which makes you drop out of college & eat loads in the middle of the night. So i'm told:cutflwrs:

Other illegal plants, poppys. Possession of papava somniferum is prohibited. Even those dried ones in your flower arrangement are class A
    drugs.

My friends & I once boiled up some heads for tea, tasted horrible, but when we got down the pub, it was like we wern't really there, it was like watching the whole thing on video. Then the dreams when you go to sleep, like being in a full blown feature film

Hogweed, its illegal to plant giant hogweed

So magic mushrooms and Datura are OK?

Thanks you've put my mind at rest.

The mescal beans are doing well this year.

I thought you needed a certain strain of Cannabis to get resin.

Psylocibin is a tricky one, unless they've updated the law, its not illlegal to eat them, but it is illegal to posess them, so grazing might be an option.

Datura is not illegal as far as I know, but having seen what it does to people, I wouldn't recomend it.

Its illegal to let Ragwort set seed.

Nah the only species of Cannabis is sativa (though it's in the process of being sub-classified I believe?). It is dioecious - seperate male and female plants - and the latter produce more THC.

There are plenty of notifiable plants - Japanese knotweed for example. And I believe xCupressoEVIL DEVIL WEED needs planning permission these days? Rightly so - get it banned!

Ziggy - I thought there was a grey area where somniferum was fine as a garden plant, just not cultivation for other uses?

There are many strains, some G.M. to produce more than 9 times the T.H.C. such as skunk & northern lights. But even the stuff from the tackle or pet shop will produce resin, the plants just have to be under drought conditions & they will try to protect themselves.

    So i'm told.

Its all illegal, its just that plod, sorry, the police wouldn't want the paperwork if they had to arrest everyone with a garden.
